09/07/2020 The Beebe flea market

Tomorrow brings a new transfer! The big number 17. All four of us in Beebe are staying. I figured as much since we all just got here. We're excited for what this next transfer brings. I have really enjoyed Beebe. While Elder Danielson and I have been going to a lesson each week on Saturday morning, Elder Kitterman and Elder Schuerch have been attending the weekly Flea Market in Beebe. For less than $10, you can rent a booth at the flea market and sell basically anything you want. Some of the regulars sell their usual stuff: clothes, flags, leatherworkings, knives, pottery. Then some people just rent a booth to sell the old junk they found during spring cleaning, so basically as close to selling belly-button lint as you can get. On an exchange with Elder Schuerch, I went to the weekly flea market and had some pretty great experiences. We met two relatives of members in the ward just walking around. In a COVID world going out and meeting people is harder, so being allowed to go to a flea market and simply talk with people is a blessing. We had some great lessons this week. We have someone who is on date for being baptized this weekend so be praying for her!!!! She is the one I have written about the last few weeks. In my personal studies I read Jacob this week and one phrase from Jacob 6:5 stuck out to me and I just wanted to share it: "cleave unto God as he cleaveth unto you." Usually in the scriptures you hear "cleave unto ____." Cleave unto charity, your spouse, etc. And just that no, no second half of a couplet. I like how in this instance it doesn't just say "cleave unto God." It adds that He cleaves unto you. Turning to God and following Him is not a one-sided action or agreement. He will cleave unto you in your trials, worries, and sufferings. Not just occasionally will he administer healing, but he will always be with you. Picture: The district. While us four Elders are staying, both Sisters Bickford and Saldivar are getting transferred and Heber Springs will be getting Elders, so now the district will be six Elders. We are really sad to see the Sisters go. They have been doing a lot of really good work!

So Elder Matt (EM) is serving in the Arkansas Little Rock mission. He was dropped off at the MTC in Provo by his brother, his sister, and brother in law. on the way to the airport in MN on Tuesday Laters How can babies walk away from their parents this easily??? "OK you can go now" In N Out Burger before the MTC induction on Wednesday. EM's brother says there were other families at the restaurant that were going to be dropping off their missionaries leaving sister's apartment MTC parking garage drop off And about an hour later, EM sent his first email: I have arrived at the MTC alive. Paul, Hayley, and Austin did a good job dropping me off and keeping me company. Next week Thursday is my P day. That's when you can expect to receive an email from me next.

11/1/2018 titled "Letter 2 Electric Boogaloo"

Week 2 of the MTC. It definitely went faster than the first week. This email is just going to be a splatter of experiences, descriptions, and stories probably. More about my companion: Elder Miller is from Arizona. He likes basketball, and played on a national team in high school, which is pretty rad. He's pretty goofy and can make everyone in the district laugh. He likes rap and country music the most, so we're kind of on the opposite when regards to the music spectrum.  MTC cafeteria food is a hit-miss. The breakfasts have gotten old really fast. It's the same "egg loaf" (scrambled eggs that's really more of a loaf than a scramble), bad ham, and oversalted hash browns every other day. The lunches and dinners range from great to bad. For the most part it's better than what I ate in college, but that's because I was paying for food and being super cheap, I ate sandwiches and rice. We sit together as a district for most meals.
