02/24/2020 "John was a Brother?"

Good day!

This week has been very eventful. It started off on Tuesday when we exchanged with the Germantown elders. I was in Germantown with Elder Olson. Someone in the YSA branch they are teaching was getting baptized so I had to go do his interview. We biked to his house, which is in Bartlett, about 9 miles away. So we biked from Germantown to Bartlett. Heavy wind. Pouring rain. We got thoroughly soaked. But it was worth it. He got baptized on Saturday and confirmed on Sunday!

We brought the bishop to a lesson this week. We were there for an hour and half, and it was mostly a Bible bash (arguing about doctrine using the bible). We had to leave at 9:30 because bedtime. But bishop stayed there until 11pm. The title of this email is a no-context quote of the bash.

We had a lot of other, better lessons though haha. We are teaching a lot of people here. People are so willing to meet here!

On Saturday we biked to a neighborhood (we have been roasting our miles this month), parked our bikes in front of a house of someone we are working with. We contact them, then move on to the next people, leaving our bikes on the pole. We thought we had locked then up, but apparently not. As we walked back to our bikes, mine was in the house's driveway, and Elder Davidson's was nowhere to be found....
Uh oh. We knock on the lady's door again and ask her if she knew anything. She said she saw a man biking off in a green vest (the reflective green vests we wear).

Elder Davidson's bike got stolen and we had to be at the church in an hour for interviews with President Hansen, so we walk back and we start calling people in the ward seeing if we could get a ride. Eventually we get a text saying Elder Davidson's bike turned back up in the lady we contacted's yard. Apparently the remorse of stealing a bike from a servant of the Lord was too heavy for the thief so he returned it. But he didnt return either of our helmets or vests, so we did lose those permanently. Oh well. I hope they like our flashy green vests. They're designer brand.

We also found a man on Saturday who lived in SLC for over 40 years and moved to Memphis 7 years ago and got stuck here and somehow couldn't successfully contact the church, and had been praying for us to come. And we came! He hadn't heard that President Monson had passed away. That made him very sad. But anyways, him finding us has given him inspiration to help him turn. His life around!
