11/18/2019 Betty Crocker ain't got nothing on you

This week was a cool week. So Michael's baptism went great! I performed the baptism and a member in the ward, the one who would give him rides to church, did the confirmation on Sunday. Some of the missionaries in my district/ward also brought people they are teaching/trying to teach to the baptism, and the mission President, President Hansen was there for the baptism. He was doing interviews (he had done ours while waiting fir the font to fill), so he popped in to watch it. It was a great event

Elder Critchfield and I also made Chocolate Chip cookies, which have been a hit for our two transfers together. One if the friends that another companionship brought to the baptism said "Betty Crocker ain't got nothing on you!" I guess I take after my dad, who makes really good CCCs. But that's it. That is the extent of our baking skills. 

We also had a super cool miracle at Zone Conference this past week. We were practicing for the upcoming Musical Tribute. As we were the 6th Zone Conference for him, he stepped out to do some paper work in another room since he had practiced at 5 previous conferences. Anyways, while alone in another room with the door opened, a woman walks down the hallway and starts talking to him. Apparently 20 years ago she had took the discussions in another part of the world. She was not able to be baptized then and lost contact with the church and moved to Arkansas. She grew up in another faith, and when she came to Arkansas she went to countless many churches (you have the pick of the lot here), but none could replicate the feeling she had learning with the missionaries. She eventually found the church here and decided to show up on Thursday afternoon, just as it so happens while President Hansen and every missionary in the area was gathering. The missionaries over her area (Little Rock Ward) are going to start teaching her and prepare her for baptism. Miracles have not ceased!

Also a new transfer starts on Tuesday. I will be staying in Benton, and Elder Critchfield will be going to... Arkadelphia! Hahaha. Really glad for him because I loved Arkadelphia. I was supposed to be training a new missionary, but he got injured in the MTC so he will not be coming out at this time. My new companion is Elder Smith, whom I have not yet met.

1. Our District! Hermana Hernadez, Elder Critchfield, and Elder Morrow are be being transferred. Everyone else is staying. Elder Morrow is going to be a Zone Leader in West Memphis. Cool stuff! 

2. A previous companion, Elder Andreasen, is going home this week. Elder Critchfield will be replacing him in Arkadelphia.

So Elder Matt (EM) is serving in the Arkansas Little Rock mission. He was dropped off at the MTC in Provo by his brother, his sister, and brother in law. on the way to the airport in MN on Tuesday Laters How can babies walk away from their parents this easily??? "OK you can go now" In N Out Burger before the MTC induction on Wednesday. EM's brother says there were other families at the restaurant that were going to be dropping off their missionaries leaving sister's apartment MTC parking garage drop off And about an hour later, EM sent his first email: I have arrived at the MTC alive. Paul, Hayley, and Austin did a good job dropping me off and keeping me company. Next week Thursday is my P day. That's when you can expect to receive an email from me next.

11/1/2018 titled "Letter 2 Electric Boogaloo"

Week 2 of the MTC. It definitely went faster than the first week. This email is just going to be a splatter of experiences, descriptions, and stories probably. More about my companion: Elder Miller is from Arizona. He likes basketball, and played on a national team in high school, which is pretty rad. He's pretty goofy and can make everyone in the district laugh. He likes rap and country music the most, so we're kind of on the opposite when regards to the music spectrum.  MTC cafeteria food is a hit-miss. The breakfasts have gotten old really fast. It's the same "egg loaf" (scrambled eggs that's really more of a loaf than a scramble), bad ham, and oversalted hash browns every other day. The lunches and dinners range from great to bad. For the most part it's better than what I ate in college, but that's because I was paying for food and being super cheap, I ate sandwiches and rice. We sit together as a district for most meals. 10/25/2018 first REAL email, titled 8 Days a Week (you can tell he was raised by a Beatles fan)

It's finally here, and about time too. We were pretty annoyed when we learned that we would have wait a week and a day for our first P-Day. Having your first week of a completely new and different experience be this long before a break made it feel like a marathon. With three weeks in the MTC, we only get 2 P-Days. Big sad.  Anyways, entering the MTC was a quick but eventful process. They let you take a couple of pictures with family which you have probably seen. I haven't though. Paul, Hayley, Austin were fun to be with the night and morning before the MTC. Many Good Burger quotes. Anyways, the MTC intake has us zigzagging from the dropoff parking lot all around the building, to your residence hall, to another building, all in like 10 minutes.  After the intake when we ended in the last building, we met our district. 3 other missionaries in my district are going to Arkansas.
