07/08/2019 Runnin' Around

It's a new week y'all. Things are pretty good down here. This past week we have been all around towns. We went up to Hot Springs for a District P Day last Monday and hung around downtown Hot Springs. We took Josh, the youth in the branch. Josh is going back to Louisiana a few days after next transfer. I'm glad we've been able to spend time with him and for him to get some missionary experiences. 

For July 4th we went up to Hot Springs again for District Council, and then we went down to Gurdon, which is south of Arkadelphia. I had never been down there, so that was a first. It's a pretty small town. It's the only town other than Arkadelphia itself in our area that has a sizable downtown area, and there were some less actives some of the Branch leadership wanted us to go so we did. One of the families hasn't been seen by their neighbor in a month and their yard was full of cats and dogs (some kittens), no car home, and there was a hole chewed in the door of their trailer home.... I hope they're alright. 

Well after our adventure in Gurdon we went to a member who lives out in the country and the family had a fireworks show. Sadly because of curfew we missed the good fireworks. But big fireworks are so much better when you're only 50 yards or so away. 

Then we went to Bismark the next day to go fishing with a person the Hot Springs elders are teaching (he knows some members in Bismark), but the guy never showed up. 

It's just the first week of the month and we've used almost 300 miles. We'll be doing a lot of walking.

    It might be the cape, but batman looks like he put on a few pounds.

So Elder Matt (EM) is serving in the Arkansas Little Rock mission. He was dropped off at the MTC in Provo by his brother, his sister, and brother in law. on the way to the airport in MN on Tuesday Laters How can babies walk away from their parents this easily??? "OK you can go now" In N Out Burger before the MTC induction on Wednesday. EM's brother says there were other families at the restaurant that were going to be dropping off their missionaries leaving sister's apartment MTC parking garage drop off And about an hour later, EM sent his first email: I have arrived at the MTC alive. Paul, Hayley, and Austin did a good job dropping me off and keeping me company. Next week Thursday is my P day. That's when you can expect to receive an email from me next.

11/1/2018 titled "Letter 2 Electric Boogaloo"

Week 2 of the MTC. It definitely went faster than the first week. This email is just going to be a splatter of experiences, descriptions, and stories probably. More about my companion: Elder Miller is from Arizona. He likes basketball, and played on a national team in high school, which is pretty rad. He's pretty goofy and can make everyone in the district laugh. He likes rap and country music the most, so we're kind of on the opposite when regards to the music spectrum.  MTC cafeteria food is a hit-miss. The breakfasts have gotten old really fast. It's the same "egg loaf" (scrambled eggs that's really more of a loaf than a scramble), bad ham, and oversalted hash browns every other day. The lunches and dinners range from great to bad. For the most part it's better than what I ate in college, but that's because I was paying for food and being super cheap, I ate sandwiches and rice. We sit together as a district for most meals.
