06/08/2020 Oops! All Berries


Dear yall

It was a pretty interesting. In one of our call-ins we asked the elders to describe their week in a type of cereal. If I were to describe mine as a type of cereal it'd be "Oops! All Berries." That's because: Oops, we had basically no time to do any sort of proselyting. Elder Probst and I spent most of our time filming or editing a video for the Church of Jesus Christ in Little Rock Facebook page (if you haven't seen it you should watch it). We edited the portion where children are being interviewed about the Godhead. There were some HILARIOUS answers. The best one was where a girl says, in an answer for what God has done for them, said "he told Liam(?) to get all them animals and put them on that ship." Yes, that was Liam. 
Go watch it please. It's so good. 

That was basically our whole week. We did teach some lessons, which was great. Especially on Sunday. Sunday was crazy busy! Kind of awkward too. In the morning this guy messaged us and said he wanted a free Bible and that he wanted to pick it up. We said we would be at our church all day, and to come by whenever it worked for him. He showed up right as we started doing a lesson.... so we stepped out of the lesson to give this guy a Bible.... just out luck. 

We also have received a ton of food. My fridge has never been so full on the mission. So there is zero need to worry about us getting fed. Someone in the ward dropped off a dozen squashes..... I do like a good squash, but that is a lot of squash.

So Elder Matt (EM) is serving in the Arkansas Little Rock mission. He was dropped off at the MTC in Provo by his brother, his sister, and brother in law. on the way to the airport in MN on Tuesday Laters How can babies walk away from their parents this easily??? "OK you can go now" In N Out Burger before the MTC induction on Wednesday. EM's brother says there were other families at the restaurant that were going to be dropping off their missionaries leaving sister's apartment MTC parking garage drop off And about an hour later, EM sent his first email: I have arrived at the MTC alive. Paul, Hayley, and Austin did a good job dropping me off and keeping me company. Next week Thursday is my P day. That's when you can expect to receive an email from me next.

10/25/2018 first REAL email, titled 8 Days a Week (you can tell he was raised by a Beatles fan)

It's finally here, and about time too. We were pretty annoyed when we learned that we would have wait a week and a day for our first P-Day. Having your first week of a completely new and different experience be this long before a break made it feel like a marathon. With three weeks in the MTC, we only get 2 P-Days. Big sad.  Anyways, entering the MTC was a quick but eventful process. They let you take a couple of pictures with family which you have probably seen. I haven't though. Paul, Hayley, Austin were fun to be with the night and morning before the MTC. Many Good Burger quotes. Anyways, the MTC intake has us zigzagging from the dropoff parking lot all around the building, to your residence hall, to another building, all in like 10 minutes.  After the intake when we ended in the last building, we met our district. 3 other missionaries in my district are going to Arkansas. 02/18/2019 The Ketchup Packet

Ok so first I'm going to address the communication policy change, which I'm sure all of you people who keep up with the church have heard about. If you aren't aware of the changes, just Google it. But the SparkNotes version is pretty much I can communicate through means other than email every week on P Day to family members now. This includes calling and videochatting. That means what was previously just 2 calls a year is now like 52. If you want calls, just FB message or email me when is good and I'll definitely try to make it work. Also unless I have an unaddressed burning concern, an unanswered presssing question, or an unsatisfied deep intrigue, I will probably keep calls to around 10 minutes.  Also I don't know if this policy change extends to friends, but until I am told otherwise I will allow 1 to 1 Facebook Messaging with friends to a limited extent, I just won't call. I will still use email though so that method is still an option.  Alrigh...
